John Ondrasik is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist. He uses Five For Fighting as his stage name. The name of his band is derived from a rule in ice hockey which punishes players who fight or commit a serious breach of rules by sending them off for five minutes (hence Five [Minutes] For Fighting).
First making an appearance into the mainstream with "Superman", John Ondrasik immediately succeeded in accomplishing his goal to bring back the beauty and essence of classical music and incorporate it back into modern pop.
