Ground Control

Ground Control was a real-time tactical game developed by Massive Entertainment and was at the time a forerunner in its genre, winning many industry awards. It featured 3D graphics and a free-floating camera which allowed one to zoom in and out and view the action from any angle, from a bird's eye view to the perspective of one's own assault units. The game focused on the strategy, tactics, and action over resource management.

Units in the game included various types of tanks, hover bikes, airplanes, and soldiers, delivered to the battlefield by orbital dropships. However, once in battle the player could not add any more, so proper troop selection was a key to success. Each unit type had special weapons, abilities, and armor. Players could choose to customize each unit or let the game auto-select the proper load out for each mission. The two armies were similar in overall power and no resource-gathering was necessary.

Storyline

Two competing factions—The Order of the New Dawn, a new religion, and the Crayven Corp., a massive conglomerate of companies—have gone to war over a distant world. Your employer has placed you in command of a customizable army of ground and air forces - victory is your prime objective.
