Gilbert Deya Ministries is a Christian religious sect set up by self-proclaimed archbishop Gilbert Deya . Deya originally began his ministry (when?) in his home country of Kenya and has since expanded into England, with churches at Liverpool, London and Manchester.
The Gilbert Deya Ministries have been accused of baby smuggling from Kenya and Deya himself has been arrested and charged with the crime. Deya insists that the babies come from women made pregnant by Jesus especially for the intended parents.
Mr Deya's wife, Eddah, was arrested during November 2004 in Nairobi and charged with stealing children. Ten children, none of whom had any genetic connection to the Deya family, were found at Mr Deya's House. Twenty babies have been placed in foster care in Kenya after DNA tests showed they had no connection to their alleged mothers.
Mr Deya claims that "through the power of prayer and the Lord Jesus" he has helped sterile women give birth. In the UK, one woman is claimed to have had three children in less than a year. Deya admits the women travel to Kenya, supoosedly to "give birth".
