Gabe Gross

Gabe Gross, born Gabriel Jordan Gross (October 21, 1979, Baltimore, Maryland), is a left fielder in Major League Baseball who plays for the Toronto Blue Jays (since 2004). He bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

In a year-career, Gross posted a .208 batting average with three home runs and 16 RBI in 44 games.

Formerly a starting quarterback for the Auburn football team, Gross was drafted by Toronto in the 1st round (15th overall) of the 2001 amateur entry draft. Promoted from Triple-A Syracuse on August 7, 2004, he saw limited duty against lefthanding pitching. Gross has excellent power, and though he is a big man, posseses good speed also. In September he belted his first major league grand slam off the Oakland A's Justin Duchscherer. His outfield skills are also very good, with a fine and strong arm. In 38 games he collected 73 putouts with five assists and one double play in 78 total chances, for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

In 2005, Gross must display more consistency to take his game to the next level of development. He is a gifted athlete and a very exciting young slugger.
