G Senjou Heaven's Door is a seinen manga in three volumes by Yoko Nihonbashi , published by Shogakukan. It is not especially well-known, and has not been officially published in English. There is however an ongoing scanlation of it, which has progressed to the first chapter of volume 2 at this time (August 2004).
It is the story of two boys, Machizo and Tetsuo, who create manga together.
Machizo's father is a successful mangaka (manga artist). Machizo feels he's living under his father's shadow, and resents his father's success.
Tetsuo, who is at school with Machizo, enjoys drawing manga and is good at it. His favorite mangaka happens to be Machizo's father. The two boys strike up an alliance to draw a successful manga to win a contest, with Machizo writing the story and Tetsuo drawing the graphics. An important part is also played by a violent girl named Kimiko, who has a crush on Tetsuo.
G Senjou Heaven's Door does have fans, who consider it to have more qualities than a summary of the banal plotline suggests. Its focus is on exploring personalities and family relationships, and suspense is created by letting the reader in on secrets about the characters that they don't know themselves. The clean drawing style with a fine thin line has been commented on with appreciation.
