Frank Doran

Frank Doran (born April 13, 1949) is a Scottish politician of the Labour Party. Doran has been a member of Parliament since 1987 and currently represents Aberdeen Central.

Frank Doran was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He attended Leith Academy and Dundee University and became a solicitor. He was elected MP in 1987 for Aberdeen South, and from 1988 to 1992 was the Shadow Minister for Oil and Gas, part of the team that was led first by Tony Blair and later by Frank Dobson. Doran lost a bid for reelection in 1992 to the Conservative Party, the only Labour Party seat lost that year. He was reelected in 1997 for Aberdeen Central.

Due to the recent reallignment of electoral boundaries in Scotland, the constituency of Aberdeen Central no longer exists. Frank Doran will contest the new seat of Aberdeen North at the forthcoming United Kingdom general election, 2005, which takes place on May 5th.
