The Fernsehturm Heidelberg is a transmission tower for FM and TV on the Koenigsstuhl (king's chair) of Heidelberg at . It is property of the city of Heidelberg and used by the SWR. Because of its high site the tower is only 82 metres high.
Besides this the TV tower Heidellberg has in a height of 30 metres an open-air observation deck, which can be reached by an elevator. Unfortunately the observation deck is closed for visitors.
In the first years of its existence the tower was also used as water tower. The water reservoir is in the tower basket. In opposite to other TV towers as the TV tower Stuttgart, there never was a tower restaurant.
