Extravehicular Mobility Unit

The Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) is an independent anthropomorphic system that provides environmental protection, mobility, life support, and communications for a Space Shuttle or International Space Station (ISS) crewmember to perform extra-vehicular activity (EVA) in earth orbit. An EMU can accommodate an EVA mission of 7 hours with 30 minutes of reserves.
