In an evaluation, the thing being evaluated is called an evaluand. Depending on the type of evaluation, the evaluand can vary greatly. Basically, anything can be an evaluand depending on the purpose of the evaluation. Some examples of evaluands are listed below:

- A literacy program in a school
- A research proposal
- A new method for memorizing music
- A 6th grade teacher
