Episcopal Diocese of Delaware

The Episcopal Diocese of Delaware belongs to Province III (Middle Atlantic) of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. It handles administrative duties for the entire state.

The current bishop, the tenth in the history of the diocese, is the Right Reverend Wayne P. Wright , who was consecrated bishop in 1998 and succeeded C. Cabell Tennis upon the latter's retirement.

The diocese's see is located in Wilmington at the Cathedral Church of Saint John.

The diocese is currently in companion relationship with the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles in Western Scotland.

History

The Diocese of Delaware dates its foundation to 1785, the first time a delegation was sent representing the diocese to the General Convention. The Rev.
