Emperor Gong of the Sui Dynasty (617-618), or Gongdi was the last emperor of China's Sui dynasty. After his grandfather, Yangdi, was strangled, he was crowned emperor in Chang'an. He was, however, simply a puppet of the regent Li Yuan. Li Yuan, a year after Gongdi was crowned Emperor, turned against Gongdi, captured Luoyang and founded the Tang Dynasty. Gongdi was allowed to live, but the Sui reign was over.
