Eld's Deer

The Eld's Deer or Brow-antlered Deer Cervus eldii is a deer indigenous to Southeast Asia. There are three recognised subspecies. They are the Manipur Brow-antlered Deer C. e. eldii in Manipur, the Burmese Brow-antlered Deer C. e. thamin in Myanmar, and the Thailand Brow-antlered Deer C. e. siamensis in Hainan Island.

The Manipur Brow-antlered Deer is a rare and critically endangered species of deer. It is locally known as Sangai in Manipuri. Other names include Thamin deer and Dancing deer. It is found in its last existing natural habitat at the Kaibul Lamjao National Park in Loktak Lake in Manipur.
