Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter

Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter (literally meaning: A real Viennese does not sink / go under) is a classic Austrian television series. It ran on ORF for 24 episodes from 1975 to 1979 and was produced by Ernst Hinterberger.

It starred popular Austrian actor Karl Merkatz as the main character of Edmund "Mundl" Sackbauer. Mundl lives in a typical Vienna working-class housing estate at Hasengasse, in Vienna's 10th municipal district (Favoriten).
