E.J. Lennox

Edward James Lennox (1844-1933) was a Toronto based architect who designed several of the city's most notable landmarks in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries including Toronto's Old City Hall, Casa Loma, the West Wing of the Ontario legislative buildings at Queen's Park, and the King Edward Hotel. His caricature can be seen on the facade of the Old City Hall - he's the one with the handlebar moustache.

Other Lennox projects include Neo-Renaissance Powerhouse at Niagara Falls, the Massey Manufacturing Company Office Building, 710 King Street West, 37 Madison Avenue, the Milburn Building at 47-55 Colborne Street, The Toronto Athletic Club at 147 College Street, the Massey Mausoleum at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, the Bank of Toronto at 205 Yonge Street, St. Paul's Anglican Church on Bloor Street East the Excelsior Life Insurance Company and 36 Toronto Street as well as his residence, Lenwil at 5 Austin Terrace.
