DuckTales is a video game based on the Disney TV series, DuckTales, made for the Nintendo Entertainment System by Capcom in 1989. In this game, based on the television series of the same name, Scrooge McDuck has to travel around the world and collect treasures in order to be the world's richest duck.
The DuckTales game is widely regarded as one of the better NES games of its day — not an instant classic like Super Mario Bros. 3, but highly respectable and fun to play, especially compared to many poor video game efforts of the time (not to mention today). This is a good example of the talent that was working for Capcom in the late 1980s and early 1990s, much of which was probably also involved in Capcom's massively popular franchise, Mega Man. It shares many of the best qualities of the contemporary Mega Man games: good music, colorful and detailed graphics, excellent control with interesting gameplay dynamics (such as using Scrooge's cane as a weapon, tool, and pogo stick), and non-linear gameplay. One major difference between DuckTales and Mega Man, is that DuckTales is much shorter; an experienced gamer can finish the game within 10 minutes.
A sequel, DuckTales 2, followed in 1993.
