Disney's Contemporary Resort

Disney's Contemporary Resort is a resort and hotel located at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. It is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company, and was first opened on October 1, 1971, at which time it boasted state-of-the-art facilities.

The main hotel is built as an A-frame, with outer walls which slope inwards around an inner atrium. The hotel design was a collaboration among WED, US Steel, and Los Angeles architect Welton Becket. The guest rooms line these outer walls; when the hotel was built, these modular pre-constructed rooms were lifted into place by crane.

The main hall, named the Grand Canyon Concourse, houses two restaurants: Chef Mickey's and the Concourse Steakhouse. The Walt Disney World monorail also runs through the inside of the building, and there is a monorail station here for resort guests. Also adorning the concourse is a large mosaic designed by Mary Blair .

On the fourteenth floor is the California Grill, providing an eclectic selection of West Coast cuisine as well as a grand view of the Walt Disney World property, including the Magic Kingdom, the Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, Disney's Polynesian Resort, Discovery Island, and River Country.

The resort offers two pools, a private beach, and boat rentals.
