Dieppe, New Brunswick

Dieppe (2001 population 14,951) is a city on the Petitcodiac River in southeastern New Brunswick, Canada. Dieppe is part of the Greater Moncton Area, and today mainly exists as a bedroom community for Moncton, although this is quickly changing, as many large and small companies now operate from the Dieppe industrial park. Notables include Armour Transport, J.D. Irving, and Master Packaging.

Originally known as Leger Corner, Dieppe received its present name upon incorporation in 1946 in honour of the Canadian soldiers killed in the 1942 raid on Dieppe, France.

In 2003 Dieppe was officially upgraded from a town form of government to that of a city.

Located in Dieppe is Champlain Place, the largest mall in the province; Crystal Palace amusement park; and Greater Moncton International Airport, busiest in the province.
