Defex is a comic series printed by Aftermath Comics (itself an imprint of Devil's Due Productions ). It was started in October 2004. It's creators are Marv Wolfman(writer), Stefano Caselli(pencils), and Sundar Raj(inks).
The story is set around a group of sudents taking a college course(it is unclear in what field), in which they are asked to list ways in which society could benefit from the application of nanotubes. They are assigned together apparently at random, and they decide their topic: using nanotubes to alter human DNA, giving them access to abilities which are latent in the human genome. When they present their thesis, the university refuses to let them test it.
After a night of hard drinking, they wake up in the lab, tied down. They realise that they must have used themselves as test cases for the thesis. They have all gained superhuman abilities.
They are immediately chased by soldiers in purple armour. Tristan is captured, and subjected to tests. The other four, hiding from Homeland Security forces and the police, storm the skyscraper where Tristan is being held, free him, and escape.
One of the team is a mole, directing the others for someone else. It has also been implied that the experiment that gave them their powers has some connection to Jeff Carey, aka Breakdown, who stars in another of Aftermath's titles.
