Cumbrian Coast Line

The Cumbrian Coast Line runs from Carlisle to Barrow-in-Furness via Workington and Whitehaven. The Furness Line continues beyond Barrow to Ulverston and Grange-over-Sands, connecting with the West Coast Main Line at Carnforth.

Towns and villages along the routes are listed below.

Train services are operated by Northern Rail between Carlisle and Whitehaven or Barrow-in-Furness. At Barrow, these local services connect with TransPennine Express regional express services to Manchester Airport. A few Northern Rail trains continue to Lancaster or beyond via the Furness Line, and one train a day runs from Whitehaven to Sunderland via the Tyne Valley Line. Additionally, several Northern Rail local services operate between Lancaster and Sellafield, and a few TransPennine Express services continue beyond Barrow to Millom.
