A Concrete Jungle is often referred to as a city or an area of a city with many tower blocks or tenement flats made of brick and concrete.
In the UK the term is sometimes associated with crime and a way of life that is indigenous to inner city life.
Two Tone band, The Specials from Coventry in the West Midlands wrote a song in the early eighties called concrete jungle. The region is synonymous with it's extensive concrete estates built in the 1950's 60's and 70's. Birmingham was home to the largest tower block estate in Britain with over 30 huge tower blocks in one small area that was once an airfield and produced the Spitfire aeroplane.
