Cape Emine

Cape Emine is a headland at the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. It is located 49 miles south of Varna, 34 miles north of Burgas and 9 miles south of Obzor. It forms the tip of Stara Planina mountain. Cape Emine is said to be Bulgaria’s stormiest cape.

In the Middle Ages there was a fortress called Emona on Cape Emine. Its name was derived from Aemon, the ancient name for Stara Planina mountain. Nowadays, only some ruins of the fortress are left. There are also a lighthouse and remnants of a monastery. The village of Emona is located nearby.
