Bullitt

Bullitt DVD

Bullitt was a 1968 film starring Steve McQueen as Detective Frank Bullitt. Bullitt is charged with guarding a key witness for an upcoming trial, but when the witness is killed, he seeks out the killers on his own. The film co-starred Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon and Robert Duvall.

Bullitt is most remembered for its car chase scene through the streets of downtown San Francisco, one of the earliest and most influential car chase sequences in film. McQueen, who did all of his own driving stunts, was behind the wheel of a dark green 1968 Ford Mustang GT-390, chasing two hit men in a black Dodge Charger. In a recent survey, the chase sequence from Bullitt was voted the best car chase in film history, in front of the original Gone in Sixty Seconds (1974) and The French Connection (1971).
