Brian Jordan

Brian O'Neal Jordan (born March 29 1967 in Baltimore, MD) is a current outfielder for the Atlanta Braves. He began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1992 tp 1998 after being drafted by them in the 1st round of the 1988 draft. Since 1998, he has played with the Braves from 1999 to 2001, the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2002 to 2003, and the Texas Rangers in 2004, before returning to the Braves in the 2005 season. He bats and throws right-handed.

He was also a football player with the Atlanta Falcons for a brief period, before deciding to play baseball.

Biography

After graduating from the University of Richmond, Jordan started his major league career on April 8 1992 with the Cardinals. His first year consisted of 193 at bats and 55 games.

In his first full year, playing for the Cardinals in 1995, he had a real breakthrough season. His stats were impressive including 145 hits, 20 doubles, with a .296 batting average in 490 at bats. He had 22 home runs and 81 RBI's that year. He improved himself even more in the next year, picking up a .310 BA, with 104 RBIs and a .349 on base percentage playing mostly as the right fielder for the Cardinals.

But the best season of his career probably came in 1998, his last year with the Cardinals. He scored 100 runs, hit 25 home runs, and batted .316, with an outstanding .534 slugging percentage in 564 at bats. That year, his stats earned him 21.3 million dollars, which is how much he would be getting for his contract with the Braves.

In 1999, he was an National League all-star. He also was 3rd in the league in sacrifice flies that year with 9.

He was involved in a blockbuster trade in 2002, being sent to the Dodgers with Odalis Perez for Gary Sheffield.

Even after a very consistant season in 2002, he was not playing full time in 2003 and then 2004 with the Rangers. However, in 2005 he has been playing full-time for the Braves.

Postseason

He has had a lot of postseason experience with 135 at bats. His overall batting average is .252 with 6 home runs and 27 RBI's. He has experienced only one world series, the 1999 World Series against the Yankees. He had 1 RBI.
