Battletoads is a half-hour, traditionally animated special (aired in 1991) by DIC Entertainment, about surfers who turn into magical humanoid toads to rescue a princess.
Set in the fictional town of Oxnard, California, it stars three high school student surfers. The trio is magically given special powers, but are actually turned into anthromorphic toads. They are sent on a mission to fight the Beast Police, and rescue a captured princess.
It is likely that Battletoads was an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
