The Battle of Medway (or Medway River) took place in AD 43 in the lands of the Celtic tribe of the Cantiaci, in southeast England. It was the first step of the third and last Roman invasion of Britain, led by Aulus Plautius and Emperor Claudius. On the news of the Roman landing, the British Celtic tribes united under the command of Togodumnus and his brother Caratacus (the sons of Cunobelinus), to fight them. They were defeated and Roman occupation of Britain started.
