Axial cut

An axial cut is a type of jump cut, where the camera suddenly moves closer to or further away from it's subject. This can be accomplished by the use of a zoom lens, physically moving the camera with a track, crane or dolly, or with a multi-camera setup.

This technique was frequently used by Akira Kurosawa.
