Alan Taylor, historian and author of books about early American history, including Colonial America, the American Revolution, and the Early American Republic.
Taylor was born in Portland, Maine, graduated from Colby College in 1977, and earned his Ph.D from Brandeis University in 1986.
He is now a professor of history at the University of California, Davis and a fellow of the College of William and Mary's Institute of Early American History and Culture.
