Alan Grant

This page is about the comic book writer. For the character in Jurassic Park, see Alan Grant (Jurassic Park).

Alan Grant is a British comic book writer, part of the 1980s wave of UK-based creators that were an integral part of the 1980s DC Comics' "new look". Like many of his fellow Brits, such as Alan Moore, Grant got his start at the British weekly comic 2000 AD, on its strip Judge Dredd.

At DC, Grant is probably best-known for a long stint on the Batman family of titles, as well as collaborating with writer/artist Keith Giffen and artist Simon Bisley on Lobo, a comic loosely connected to both Giffen's Justice League and Legion of Super-Heroes tie-in L.E.G.I.O.N., featuring a violent psychopathic alien. Originally introduced as a parody of the then-popular 'grim and gritty' characters such as Marvel Comics' Wolverine and Punisher, Lobo became, in turn, quite popular in his own right.

Grant has often collaborated with other writers, in particular John Wagner.
