Al Barlick

Albert Joseph Barlick (April 2, 1915 - December 27, 1995) served as a baseball umpire in the National League for 28 seasons (1940-43, 1946-55, 1958-71). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.

Barlick served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

During his baseball career, he umpired a record-tying seven All-Star games (1942, '49, '52, '55, '59, '66 and '70), as well as seven World Series (1946, 1950, 1951, 1954, 1958, 1962 and 1967). He also officiated the playoff series to determine the NL's regular-season champion in both 1959 and 1962, and the NLCS in 1969.

For 22 years after he retired, he acted as a consultant to the league.
