• July 15 – Battle of Grunwald (a.k.a. Tannenberg or Zalgiris). Polish-Lithuanian forces under the cousins Władysław Jagiełło of Poland and Witowt of Lithuania decisively defeat the forces of the Teutonic Knights, whose power is broken
